ELI (English Language Institute) Outreach

During the school semesters, Rotarians are paired with students studying at the TAMU English Language Institute. Students are picked up on campus then visit our club for lunch and the program. This helps introduce international students to cultural activities with community leaders, fosters interaction with others outside the university environment, and allows them to practice their English language skills by listening and speaking.

Nicaragua Student Support

Our Club has adopted the country of Nicaragua and seeks opportunities to provide for those most impoverished. We financially support 2 families through the Hope and Relief International organization based in Brenham, Texas. This support provides schooling for the children with 2 meals per day, along with suitable housing for their family, vocational training for the parents, and a community development plan. Rotarians and other supporters are encouraged to visit the project areas and meet the families through bi-annual trips to Nicaragua.

Group Study Exchange

Through Rotary District 5910, our club helps support the GSE program by promoting this unique cultural vocational exchange between our area and another country. The GSE Team leader is a Rotarian, but the remaining team members are not.  Applications are accepted and the team is formed in the Fall, in order to provide adequate cultrually preparation for the 4-5 week trip abroad in late Spring.
