Driver Responsibilities:

  • Contact team members and arrange for a time and location to meet in the morning to put out flags and in the afternoon to pick up flags
  • Get to Conlee-Garrett Storage the day before flag delivery at the designated time to load your team's flags.  You will receive the Delivery Report and Route Maps at this time, along with a bag of rubber bands and extra sleeve caps, if available.
  • Get to Conlee-Garrett Storage after flag pick-up at the designated time to unload your team's flags
  • If you are working a route you are unfamiliar with, review the delivery addresses and the delivery map

Team Member Responsibilities:

  • Most Important:  Treat flags with respect.  Do not let them touch the ground. Carefully load flags to avoid tearing or getting dirt or water on other flags.
  • Locate Flags for delivery:  Each team is provided a delivery report with Last name, street address, and # of flags to be delivered.  At each delivery address, a blue paint mark on the curb indicates the flag location.  By default, you should find the flag 18" from the curb.  If the distance is different, it should be noted on the Delivery Route report.  Use a screw driver to stab the ground to find the flag sleeve, which should be covered with a cap, giving it a hollow sound when hit.  Pry the cap off with the screwdriver.  Remove the rubber band from the flag, Unfurl the flag and place it in the sleeve.
  • If you are unable to find the sleeve, please notify Shelley Nelson by text or email (contact info above) with address info.
  • If you feel more instructions are required to find the flag, write in the details and hand the paperwork in when you return the flags.  The database will be updated so that the next delivery will go smoother.
  • Flag Pickup:  The flags should be neatly and evenly furled and a rubber band put in place to keep it from unfurling.  Place the flag respectfully in the vehicle to avoid getting dirt, mud, or muddy water on the flag.  Remember to avoid touching the flag to the ground.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR VOLUNTEERING YOUR TIME!!!!!
